Pastor Ira A. Walton, Sr.
Ira A. Walton, Sr. was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 3, 1958. He attended Kingston Elementary and Carol W. Hayes High School. He entered the Marines at Parris Island in Beaufort, South Carolina in April of 1976. On December 18, 1976 he married Angela Payne, his childhood sweetheart.
Ira was saved in May of 1982 while serving in Okinawa Japan. He was first introduced to the Independent Baptist Church on his second tour in Okinawa Japan in 1985. He received his call to the ministry on his third tour to Okinawa, Japan in 1992, and he retired from the Marines in 1996. In 1997, he moved his family from Yuma to Luverne, Alabama where he served as a police officer and investigator for the City of Luverne from 1997-2006.
In October 1998, construction began on what is now Crenshaw Community Baptist Church where he serves as Pastor. On August 14, 2014, he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from The Institute of Biblical and International Studies.

We take the Word of God very seriously. The scriptures have the answer for all of life's problems. As pastor goal is to preach the word of God, not my mines or the world opinion. The Bible (God’s word) is the final authority for life, in it we find His will for every area of our lives.
